The "Signal to Noise" books were inspired by the works of composer Alvin Lucier. They use an iterative process of minimization and repetition to explore the boundaries of recognizability. An iconic picture - the signal - is transformed into a hazy, non-semantic texture: the visual equivalent of noise. Traces remain.
